Hand Tied Quality That Outlasts the Competition
Capt. Joe Shute hand ties every lure with UV hair that is thicker than the standard material most manufacturers use. The result is a lure that holds its shape, keeps its color, and tangles less than cheaper hair baits. The pearl Mylar adds flash without overwhelming the natural hair profile.
The 8 oz head runs sub-surface where bigger fish feed. While the surface spread draws attention, the Flatliner quietly does the catching below. Available in eight colors, with the Nickel Plated version offering an even tougher finish for toothy critters.

UV Hair Construction
The hair on these lures is 0.07 thickness UV hair, the same material sold separately on the site. Thicker than standard hair, it holds shape in the water, resists tangling, and maintains vibrant colors. The UV properties add visibility in deep water.
8 oz Lead Head
The heavy lead head pulls the lure into the sub-surface zone. It tracks straight without spinning, holds depth at trolling speeds, and gives the hair a natural pulsing action as it moves through the water column.
American Made
Every Joe Shute lure is hand tied in the USA by Capt. Joe Shute himself. This is not factory-produced overseas product. Each lure gets individual attention to hair placement, Mylar distribution, and finish quality.

What is the Tackle Room Exclusive color? +
White Head with Black/Blue Blended Crystal Hair and Chartreuse Mylar. Only available at The Tackle Room at $30.99. A proven color combination that Capt. Joe tied specifically for our customers.
What species does this catch? +
Tuna, mahi, billfish, and wahoo. The sub-surface presentation is especially effective on yellowfin tuna. See our yellowfin tuna guide for more.
How does this compare to the Nickel Plated version? +
Same UV hair and construction. The Nickel Plated version has a nickel-plated head instead of powder coat. The nickel is more resistant to chips from toothy fish.
What about the High Speed 10 oz? +
The 10 oz Cruiser is designed for high speed wahoo trolling at 8-24 knots with a cable leader. The 8 oz Flatliner runs at standard trolling speeds for broader species targeting.
Is the hair durable? +
The 0.07 thickness UV hair is thicker than most competitors. It tangles less, holds color longer, and has more vibrant UV properties. Our trolling lure guide covers hair lure maintenance.
How do I rig this? +
The Flatliner comes ready to fish. For custom rigging options, check our rigging guide. Run it on a flat line or behind a planer for deeper presentation.
