Collection: Crimp Sleeves

Crimp sleeves for mono, fluoro, and wire leaders. Choose aluminum, copper, or brass sleeves in the right size for your line. These are the building blocks for offshore leaders, wind ons, and heavy trolling rigs.

FAQ - Crimp Sleeves

1. Aluminum vs copper vs brass sleeves - what should I use?

Aluminum is best for mono and fluoro. Copper is the standard for single strand or cable. Brass thick wall sleeves are great for heavy mono and offshore rigs.

2. How many crimps should I make on a sleeve?

Use two compressions on longer double barrel sleeves and one compression on short sleeves. Leave a slight flare at each end so the line is not pinched.

3. How much tag end should I leave?

Leave about 1/8 inch of tag beyond the sleeve. This keeps the line from slipping under load.

4. Do I need heat shrink over crimp sleeves?

It is optional but helps with abrasion. A 1 to 2 inch section of shrink tube over the sleeve keeps it clean.

5. Which sleeves work for cable leaders?

Copper sleeves are the standard for 7x7 and 7x19 cable. Try Pro Tackle copper sleeves.

6. What sleeves do you recommend for heavy mono?

For heavy mono and big game rigs, use double crimp brass sleeves or Grand Slam aluminum sleeves.

How to Choose Crimp Sleeves

Match sleeve material to line. Aluminum is the go to for mono and fluoro. Copper is best for single strand and cable. Brass thick wall sleeves give you extra strength on heavy mono.

Size matters. The sleeve should fit the line snug without crushing it. A good crimp leaves a slight flare at each end and about 1/8 inch of tag past the sleeve. If the line slides, the sleeve is too big.

Pick the right style. Double barrel sleeves are stronger and easier to crimp clean. For offshore rigs, the double crimp brass sleeves are a solid choice. For mono leaders, Grand Slam aluminum sleeves are reliable and clean.

Use a quality tool. Pair your sleeves with a proper crimper and follow the steps in our crimping guide. Good crimps save fish and gear.
