Rapala X-Rap 10 Deep for Deeper Strike Zones

The X-Rap 10 Deep adds a larger lip to the standard X-Rap 10, driving it 6-15 feet below the surface. When fish are holding deeper around structure, channel edges, or thermoclines, the Deep version gets the classic X-Rap wobble and flash into their strike zone. Cast it for deep-running retrieves or troll it for Spanish mackerel, bluefish, and striped bass. Same proven translucent body with holographic foil and reflective scales.
    • Dives 6-15 feet for deeper presentations
    • Same proven X-Rap body and flash
    • Cast it or troll it for versatility
    • VMC trebles with dressed rear hook

Reach the Fish the Standard X-Rap Cannot

Some days the fish just are not in the top 6 feet of the water column. Structure holds fish deeper. Thermoclines push bait down. Current edges create feeding lanes at depth. The X-Rap 10 Deep was built for these situations. The extended lip drives the lure 6-15 feet on a standard retrieve, putting it in the zone where deeper-holding predators are feeding.

For trolling, the Deep version excels behind a flat line at moderate speeds. Striped bass anglers in the Northeast troll these through rips and along structure edges with consistent results. Spanish mackerel and bluefish respond to the flash and wobble at trolling speeds. The dressed rear hook adds flutter on speed changes.

6-15 Foot Diving Range

The extended lip on the Deep version pushes the lure well below where the standard X-Rap 10 operates. This opens up deeper structure, channel edges, and suspended fish as targets.

Cast and Troll Versatility

Cast it and crank it down for deep retrieves along jetties, bridges, and drop-offs. Or troll it at 3-6 knots to cover water and find scattered fish. The same lure does both jobs.

Proven X-Rap Construction

Translucent body, internal holographic foil, reflective scales, and VMC hooks. The Deep version shares the same construction quality that made the X-Rap line one of the most successful lure families in fishing.

How to Fish the Rapala X-Rap 10 Deep

  1. Cast past your target zone and let the lure settle
  2. Crank steadily to drive the lure to its maximum depth
  3. Speed up for aggressive action, slow down for wobble
  4. Pause and twitch near structure to trigger strikes
  5. For trolling, run at 3-6 knots on a flat line

6-15 feet depending on line weight, retrieve speed, and trolling speed. Lighter line and faster speeds push it deeper. See our trolling setup guide.

The X-Rap Magnum 40 dives up to 40 feet for offshore trolling. The Deep X-Rap 10 covers the mid-depth range. See our full lure collection.
Best color for deep water? +

What rod for trolling deep-diving plugs? +
A medium-heavy trolling rod or a stout spinning rod works well. Use 15-30 lb line depending on target species. See our trolling spread guide.
