Perfect measurements and weight

Used this differently than its intended design. I made raft oars counter balances from them. Previously used steel 4lb mounted on the exterior near the grips. These I was able to install into the shaft and at 5lbs was able to get the weight away from the grips. Both oars took about 30 minutes. Another bonus is the seller got the weights to me in 4 days vice 12 Amazon predicted.

Awesome bait for Hybrid striped Bass.

Purchased these and first trip out boated several very nice Hybrids. The fish were in 5-7lb range. The bait falls fast and the hooks are very sharp for solid hook ups. Store-bought gaffs come in two flavors: cheap ones that bend on the first decent fish, and expensive ones that cost three times what they should. The third option is building your own. A Mustad 2286 DT hook, a section of aluminum or fiberglass pole, and 30 minutes of work gives you a gaff that is exactly the length, hook size, and weight you want. When the hook gets dull or dinged after a season, you replace just the hook for under $25 instead of buying a whole new gaff. Serious offshore crews keep spare hooks in the console for exactly this reason.

Duratin Coating for Saltwater Use

Duratin is Mustad's corrosion-resistant finish designed specifically for marine environments. It handles salt spray, blood, fish slime, and repeated rinsing without flaking or degrading. A basic freshwater rinse after each trip keeps these hooks looking and performing like new for multiple seasons.

Sharpens Fast, Holds an Edge

A dull gaff hook costs fish. These hooks take an edge quickly with a standard mill bastard file and hold that point through repeated gaffing. The steel is hard enough to stay sharp but not so brittle that it chips on bone or hard scales. Touch up the point before each trip and you are good to go.
