Bulk Heat Shrink Tubing by the Foot

Buy heat shrink tubing by the foot and save versus pre-packaged kits. Our 3:1 shrink ratio tubing with marine grade adhesive lining creates a waterproof seal over crimp connections, hooksets, and any joint that needs protection. Available in 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch, and 1/2 inch diameters to match different leader and connection sizes. This is the most affordable way to build hooksets or cover crimp connections on your own terms.
    • 3:1 shrink ratio for tight, secure seal
    • Marine grade adhesive lining for waterproof bond
    • Three diameters cover most fishing applications
    • Buy only what you need by the foot

Build Better Hooksets for Less

Pre-made hooksets are convenient but expensive. With bulk heat shrink tubing and your own hooks, crimps, and leader material, you can build custom hooksets for a fraction of the retail price. The 3:1 shrink ratio means the tubing shrinks to one-third of its original diameter when heated, creating a tight, permanent seal around your connection.

The marine grade adhesive lining melts during heating and bonds to the surface underneath. This creates a waterproof barrier that prevents salt from reaching your crimps and corroding them. Three sizes cover everything from light inshore hooksets (1/4 inch) to heavy offshore rigs (1/2 inch).

3:1 Shrink Ratio

Shrinks to one-third of its original diameter for a tight fit around connections of varying sizes. No need to stock a dozen different sizes when the shrink ratio covers the range.

Marine Grade Adhesive Lining

The inner adhesive melts during heating and bonds to the surface of your connection, creating a waterproof seal that locks out salt, moisture, and corrosion.

How to Apply Heat Shrink Tubing

  1. Cut tubing to length (6-8 inches per connection)
  2. Slide tubing over your completed crimp connection
  3. Center the tubing over the crimp and hook shank
  4. Apply heat evenly with a heat gun or lighter
  5. Rotate the connection for even shrinking
  6. Allow to cool before handling

What size heat shrink for hooksets? +
1/4 inch for light inshore hooksets. 3/8 inch for standard offshore hooksets. 1/2 inch for heavy big game hooksets. Measure your connection diameter before ordering. See our crimping guide.
How do I shrink it? +
Use a heat gun, lighter, or boiling water. Heat evenly around the tubing until it shrinks tight. The adhesive will melt and bond. Avoid overheating which can burn through. See our crimping guide.
Is it actually waterproof? +
Yes. The adhesive lining creates a sealed bond when properly heated. This prevents saltwater from reaching your crimps and causing corrosion. See our offshore rigging guide.
Can I use this over mono and fluoro connections? +
Yes. The adhesive bonds to mono, fluoro, wire, and metal crimps. It works on any material commonly used in fishing rig construction. See our leader FAQ.
How much do I need per hookset? +
About 6-8 inches per hookset covers the crimp, hook shank, and creates a clean finish. One foot per hookset with trim waste is a safe estimate. See our hookset building guide.
What is a 3:1 shrink ratio? +
It means the tubing diameter shrinks to one-third of its original size when heated. A 3/8 inch tube shrinks to about 1/8 inch. This wide range lets one size fit multiple connection diameters.
