Bank Sinkers Built for the Bottom

The bank sinker is the most versatile bottom weight in fishing. The teardrop shape rolls over rocks, shell beds, and reef structure where flat or square sinkers get hung up and cost you money. These are poured from clean American lead with a solid brass eye that handles braid, mono, and wire without fail. We stock 12 sizes from 1oz all the way to 48oz so you can fish a calm bay or punch through ripping offshore current.
  • Clean American lead poured in the USA
  • Brass eye resists saltwater corrosion
  • Teardrop shape reduces snags on rocky bottom
  • 1oz to 48oz for inshore, nearshore, and offshore
  • Bulk packs in 25ct and 10ct for the sizes you burn through

Hit Bottom, Not Snags

Every bottom fisherman knows the feeling: you drop down, feel the thump, start your retrieve, and you are stuck. That is money on the reef. Bank sinkers fix that problem. The rounded teardrop profile rolls and slides where angular sinkers wedge into cracks. You still get solid bottom contact and good sensitivity through the rod, but you come back clean way more often.

We have fished these from 30-foot wrecks to 200-foot ledges and they perform. The brass eye holds up trip after trip in salt, and the clean lead pours mean consistent weight across every sinker in the pack.

Clean American Lead

Poured in the USA from clean lead stock. Consistent weight from sinker to sinker, no voids or rough edges. You get what the label says every time.

Teardrop Anti-Snag Shape

The rounded bank profile slides over rocks, coral, and shell bottom instead of wedging in. You lose fewer sinkers per trip, which means more time fishing and less time re-rigging.

1oz to 48oz Plus Bulk Packs

Twelve sizes cover everything from inshore bay fishing to deep offshore ledges. The 1oz comes in 25-packs, 2oz through 8oz in 10-packs, and the heavy stuff (10oz to 48oz) is sold individually. Stock up on what you use most.

How to Choose the Right Bank Sinker

1. Match weight to current and depth - use 1-3oz for calm inshore water under 30 feet, 4-8oz for moderate current, 10oz+ for strong current or deep structure

2. Pick your pack size - grab the 25ct or 10ct packs for sizes you burn through, individual heavy sinkers for occasional offshore trips

3. Rig it right - thread your leader through the brass eye for a fixed rig, or use a stainless clip for quick-change setups

4. Drop to the bottom, feel the thump, and work your bait - the teardrop shape lets you bump along structure without constant hang-ups

5. Read our sinker weight guide for detailed size recommendations by species and technique

What size bank sinker do I need? +
It depends on depth and current. Use 1-3oz for calm inshore water, 4-8oz for moderate conditions, and 10oz+ for deep or heavy current. Our sinker weight guide breaks it down by species and technique.
What is the difference between bank sinkers, egg sinkers, and pyramid sinkers? +
Bank sinkers have a teardrop shape that rolls over structure without snagging. Egg sinkers are oval with a hole through the center for sliding rigs. Pyramid sinkers have flat sides that dig into sand to hold position in surf current.
Why do the small sizes come in bulk packs? +
Because you go through 1-4oz sinkers fast. Snags, cut-offs, and re-rigs eat through your supply on any serious bottom fishing trip. The 25ct and 10ct packs keep you stocked.
Will these hold up in saltwater? +
Yes. The sinker body is lead (saltwater does not corrode lead meaningfully), and the eye is brass, which resists salt corrosion far better than steel. Our bottom fishing guide has more saltwater rigging tips.
Can I use bank sinkers in strong current? +
Bank sinkers work in moderate current, but they roll. For heavy surf or extreme tidal flow, pyramid sinkers grip the bottom better. For offshore vertical fishing in current, just size up to 16oz or heavier.
Can I use bank sinkers for deep dropping? +
For depths under 300 feet, a heavy bank sinker (24-48oz) works fine. For true deep drop fishing beyond that, dedicated deep drop weights are shaped for faster descent. Read our deep drop fishing guide for the full breakdown.
What is the brass eye for? +
The brass eye is your attachment point. Run your leader or snap directly through it, or clip on a stainless rigging clip for fast swaps. It works with mono, fluoro, braid, and wire. See our bottom fishing guide for rigging options.
Is lead safe to use for fishing sinkers? +
Lead is the standard sinker material for good reason: it is dense, cheap, and effective. Wash your hands after handling lead tackle. For a full comparison, read our lead vs tungsten breakdown.
