Get to the Bottom. Stay at the Bottom.

Deep dropping is a war against current. Your rig is 500 to 1500 feet below the boat, and every ounce of water drag pushes your bait off the mark. The wrong weight shape bellies your line, misses the target, and wastes the 20 minutes it took to make the drop.

Epic Fishing Deep Drop Weights are poured in a narrow 1.5-inch diameter cylinder that cuts through current like a torpedo. The consistent diameter across all sizes (1 to 10 lbs) means you can swap weights without changing your drift characteristics. Deep-seated brass eyelets are set during the pour, not crimped on after, so they will not pull out under the load of a swordfish or big grouper.

Narrow Diameter Profile

1.5-inch diameter across all sizes minimizes water resistance and line belly. Your rig drops faster and stays more vertical than wide-profile sinkers of the same weight. That means less line out and more time on target.

Deep-Seated Brass Eyelets

Brass eyelets are set into the lead during the pouring process, not crimped on afterward. This creates a permanent bond that handles extreme loads from heavy current, big fish, and the weight of the sinker itself on the retrieve.

Eight Sizes for Every Depth

1lb for shallow deep drops. 3-5lb for tilefish in moderate current. 6-8lb for swordfish in stronger drift. 10lb for extreme depth or heavy current. Eight sizes mean you always have the right weight for conditions.

How to Use Deep Drop Weights

  1. Select the weight size based on depth and current conditions
  2. Attach to the bottom of your deep drop rig via the breakaway swivel
  3. Bait your rig and lower to the target depth
  4. Monitor your line angle to ensure you are staying vertical
  5. Increase weight if current pushes your line past 30 degrees

What size deep drop weight do I need? +
3-5lb for tilefish in moderate current. 5-8lb for swordfish daytime deep drops. 8-10lb for extreme depth or strong drift. Start with 5lb and adjust based on conditions. See our swordfish deep drop guide.
Why does the narrow diameter matter? +
Narrow profile reduces water drag and line belly at depth. Your rig reaches bottom faster and stays more vertical, keeping your baits in the target zone. Wide sinkers create more belly and drift. See our deep drop fishing guide.
Will the brass eyelets pull out? +
No. The eyelets are set into the lead during the pouring process, creating a permanent mechanical bond. They are not crimped on after. See our sinker weight guide.
What rig do I use with deep drop weights? +
Attach to the bottom of a deep drop rig via the breakaway swivel. We carry R&R Tackle Deep Drop Rigs in 4 hook sizes. See our R&R Deep Drop Rigs.
Are these made in the USA? +
Yes. Hand-poured in North and South Carolina by Epic Fishing Co, our house brand. See our gear essentials.
Can I use these for regular bottom fishing? +
Yes. The 1-3lb sizes work for standard bottom fishing applications where you want a compact, streamlined sinker. See our bottom fishing guide.
